Pneumococcal Vaccine
Pneumococcal Immunization is recommended for anyone 65 years old, or younger if immune suppressed.
A 1-time only revaccination is suggested for anyone who was immunized before age 65 and it has been five years or longer, has chronic kidney disease, or is immune compromised as there are probably not enough antibodies to provide protection in most people.
Information from previous epidemics tells us that most related illness and deaths are due to secondary bacterial infection. Pneumococcal vaccine, in addition to the influenza vaccine, may provide further protection.
